Appledore Farm is not at the end of the world, but you may think that, especially if you come the "wrong" way at certain times of year.
Here are some tips:
- If you want to use an Internet map service, use Google Maps. As an example, we have had people attempt to find us with Mapquest. This service is notorious for taking people the wrong way.
- Call ahead. If you have any doubts, call us (802 436 3121) as long as you have cellphone service. Once you are up in our hills, it will become scarce very quickly.
- Use the written directions, or use the Google Maps and its Get directions feature.
- Do not despair. The road in always feels longer the first time. Also, the Hartland Elementary School bus stops in front of our house on the morning and afternoon of each day school is in session. If it can make it, the likelihood is that you can too.
- If it is the height of Mud Season, be prepared to walk a little. Generally speaking, it is almost always possible to get within seven tenths of a mile of Appledore Farm. Walking the last bit is a good way to warm up your horse.
Finally, in most weather, it is a beautiful drive to here. We are no more than about 3 miles from a paved road.
